Adult Dog Wellness Schedule

Adult dogs should start their yearly wellness schedule one year after their last puppy vaccinations. The adult dog wellness schedule for one year includes the following:

• Lyme Disease Booster
• DA2PP Booster
• Bordetella (Kennel Cough) If Needed
• Rabies One Year/Three Year Booster
• 4DX Test (Tests for Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, & Ehrlichiosis)
• Heartworm Preventative
• Fecal Examination
• Flea & Tick Preventative
  

About the 4DX Test & Heartworm Prevention

Our veterinary hospital requires a yearly 4DX test for heartworm prevention to be dispensed. All diseases this test detects are treatable and can significantly affect your dog's health if left untreated. The only way for us to ensure that your pet receives proper treatment is to test yearly or when one of these diseases is suspected.



Heartworm prevention is recommended year-round to protect your pet. We primarily use Interceptor™, a once-a-month, flavored chewable tablet. Interceptor prevents heartworm disease and controls dogs' roundworm, hookworm, and whipworm infestation.

Flea & Tick Prevention

Flea and tick prevention is also recommended year-round, as flea and tick infestations are much easier to prevent than to treat once established. Fleas not only cause itchy suffering and rashes to both you and your pets, but they also transmit tapeworms. In severe cases, fleas and ticks cause anemia, resulting in severe health complications for your pet.

Ticks can transmit Lyme disease and the lesser known diseases, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis. All of these tick diseases can cause severe joint pain, fever, lethargy, and organ deterioration if left untreated.
